POKOTABI / Yōshoku no Chikore
洋食のチコレ
In Uzumasa, Yōshoku no Chikore serves nostalgic, scratch-made Japanese-Western fare, from fluffy omurice paired with fried prawns in deep demi-glace to hearty combo sets laden with hamburg steak and croquettes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Blanketed in smooth, softly set eggs, the omurice here comes ladled with a generous pour of demi-glace, balancing savory depth, mild sweetness, and a pleasant touch of bitterness against the rich chicken rice beneath. Tucked into a quiet residential corner of Kyoto’s Uzumasa district, Yōshoku no Chikore is widely known for this fluffy omurice and fried prawn combination. Served alongside crisp fried prawns, the dish showcases the patient prep work and unhurried craft characteristic of a classic neighborhood yoshoku diner.
For days when choosing just one specialty feels impossible, the generous combination sets fit the bill. The namesake Chikore set assembles a nostalgic dream plate of juicy hamburg steak, plump fried prawns, and creamy crab croquettes. At lunchtime, a daily changing set also pairs hamburg steak with various fried accompaniments, dished up with a hearty bowl of rice for a thoroughly filling meal.
With around 10 seats, the dining room offers a calm setting equally welcoming to solo diners and families. Service focuses primarily on midday lunch, with evening dinner hours added on Saturdays and Sundays. A parking area accommodating 1 vehicles is situated right beside the shop, and payment is strictly cash only, so it pays to have yen notes on hand before visiting.
